Chirag Paswan Compares Tejashwi Yadav's Election Promises to Fantastical Daydreams, Like Mungeri Lal's

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has strongly criticized Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, deriding his recent electoral promises as "dreams of Mungeri Lal". Paswan's comments come in response to Yadav's pledges to regularize contractual employees and provide substantial benefits to Jeevika Didis if his party wins the upcoming Bihar elections.

Tejashwi Yadav, in a bid to woo voters, particularly women, has promised to make Jeevika CM (Community Mobilisers) Didis permanent employees and provide them with a monthly salary of ₹30,000. Additionally, he has pledged to waive interest on their existing loans, provide interest-free credit for the next two years, grant an additional allowance of ₹2,000 per month, and ensure insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh for all cadres. He has also promised one government job per family. Yadav has also assured that all contractual workers engaged in various state departments will get permanent government jobs if RJD is voted to power.

The Jeevika scheme, launched by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in 2007 with World Bank support, aims to empower rural women through self-help groups. However, the workers, known as Jeevika Didis, operate on contract without permanent employment benefits. Yadav criticized the current government’s initiative, labeling the ₹10,000 distributed under the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana as a "bribe".

Paswan, while addressing the media in Patna, questioned the feasibility of Yadav's promises. He suggested that Yadav should first focus on forming the government before making such commitments, especially given the internal strife within the Mahagathbandhan alliance. Paswan argued that the alliance has been "completely destroyed" due to the ongoing leadership disputes. He further added that Tejashwi Yadav is daydreaming if he thinks he will come to power.

Paswan has also targeted the Congress party, noting the absence of Rahul Gandhi and questioning the party's strategy in Bihar. He contrasted the disarray in the opposition with the unity within the NDA, where all partners have unanimously agreed to contest under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.

Previously, Paswan has accused the opposition of being nervous and playing political games ahead of the elections. He defended the NDA government's welfare schemes, asserting that they have implemented measures that the opposition had only promised. He has also challenged Tejashwi Yadav to contest the elections alone if he believes in his strength.
