The Office of the Dean of Students will release detailed instructions ahead of the polls, covering procedures, eligibility, and conduct. A grievance redressal cell has also been constituted to address any issues related to the conduct of the elections.
Focus on Fair and Orderly Elections
JNU authorities have called upon students to approach the elections with responsibility and actively contribute to maintaining the integrity of the process. Students are urged to participate responsibly and cooperate in maintaining a positive and orderly atmosphere throughout the election period.
Past Election Trends
In the JNUSU elections 2024-25, Left-affiliated candidates secured three of the four principal positions. The ABVP, a rival student group, ended a nine-year interval by winning the joint secretary seat. Nitish Kumar (AISA) was elected president with 1,702 votes. The JNUSU election witnessed a voter turnout of 70 per cent, with around 5,500 students casting their votes.
Anticipated Contest
A close contest is expected between the Left and ABVP in the upcoming JNUSU elections. Students and candidates are advised to prepare for the upcoming polls by familiarizing themselves with the forthcoming guidelines and participating actively.
The JNUSU elections are closely watched as they often set the tone for national student politics.
