Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and supporters in Buxar, Bihar, on Friday, October 24, 2025, as part of the party's campaign for the upcoming 2025 Assembly elections. Shah's visit is one of several high-profile rallies being conducted across the state by BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to energize the party base ahead of the polls.
During his address, Shah lauded the achievements of the BJP-led government in Bihar, particularly in the realms of infrastructure development, education, social welfare programs, and improvements to law and order. He emphasized the importance of development and good governance as key priorities for the party. He also targeted the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for fielding the son of the late Mohammad Shahabuddin, a convicted criminal, in the upcoming elections, saying that it showed the party's continued association with criminal elements. Shah stated that Bihar is now free from fear under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that even if a hundred Shahabuddins come, no one can harm the people of Bihar.
Shah also invoked Chhathi Maiya, praying for her blessings to keep "jungle raj" away from Bihar, a jab at the RJD's past rule in the state. He reminded the public of the history of Shahabuddin, who had around 75 cases against him, including jail terms, triple murders, and attacks. He stated that Shahabuddin had even bathed the sons of a business owner in acid until their skins came off, but that the people of Siwan never surrendered to him.
The Home Minister's rally in Buxar is part of a broader effort by the BJP to strengthen its outreach in Bihar. Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to address rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai, while other prominent leaders like BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda have also held meetings across the state. The Bihar Assembly elections, consisting of 243 seats, will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the results being announced on November 14. The opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance has declared Tejashwi Yadav as their Chief Ministerial candidate and plans to campaign with the slogan “Chalo Bihar… Badle Bihar”.
