Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, India – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to witness a captivating march past by indigenous dog squads on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrated annually on October 31st. This year's event, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, promises a grand parade and cultural festival held in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.
The inclusion of Indian breed dogs highlights their growing significance in security operations and embodies the spirit of "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" (self-reliant India). Among the participating canines are Rampur Hounds and Mudhol Hounds, both known for their contributions as force multipliers in Border Security Force (BSF) operations. Riya, a three-and-a-half-year-old Mudhol Hound who recently secured first place at the All India Police Dog Competition, will lead the dog squad.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade will feature a diverse array of participants, including contingents from the BSF, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), along with state police forces from Assam, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh, as well as the National Cadet Corps (NCC). The parade will also showcase cavalry and camel-mounted contingents.
Adding to the spectacle, women police officers and personnel will actively participate, with a female officer leading the Guard of Honour presented to the Prime Minister. Women personnel from the CISF and CRPF will demonstrate martial arts and unarmed combat drills, showcasing their strength and courage.
To emphasize unity in diversity, the parade will include tableaux from various states and union territories, reflecting the theme "Unity in Diversity". This year's parade will feature ten tableaux from the National Security Guard (NSG), NDRF, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Manipur, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Puducherry.
Young NCC cadets will convey the message of "Unity is Strength" through their discipline and enthusiasm. A spectacular air show by the Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Team and the Assam Police’s Motorcycle Daredevil team will further enhance the parade. Other attractions include the Gujarat Police's Horse Contingent and the BSF's Camel Contingent along with the Camel Mounted Band.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day, is observed annually on October 31st to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
