Google is enhancing workplace productivity with its Gemini AI, and the "Help me schedule" feature in Gmail is the latest tool designed to automate meeting schedules effortlessly. This innovative feature, powered by Gemini AI, streamlines the often tedious process of arranging meetings by intelligently suggesting available times directly within your email context.
The "Help me schedule" tool is designed to reduce the back-and-forth emails typically involved in coordinating schedules. When Gmail detects an intent to schedule a meeting within an email thread, such as phrases like "Let's set up a call" or "When are you free?", a "Help me schedule" button appears in the compose toolbar. Once activated, Gemini AI analyzes the email content and your Google Calendar availability to propose suitable meeting times. Users can then edit, remove, or add time slots before inserting them into their email replies.
Recipients can then simply choose a preferred time from the options provided, and Gmail automatically creates a calendar event for all participants. This eliminates the need for manual coordination and switching between multiple apps, making scheduling faster and more efficient. The "Help me schedule" feature also understands the context of the email, so if a user requests a "30-minute chat this week," the AI will suggest only 30-minute slots that week, matching everyone's availability.
Currently, the "Help me schedule" feature supports one-on-one meetings, with Google planning to add group scheduling capabilities in future updates. This feature is rolling out to Google Workspace users and Gemini for Google Workspace add-on subscribers, including those with AI Pro and AI Ultra plans.
This launch is part of Google's broader initiative to integrate AI into its Workspace applications. The company has also introduced updates to other tools, including Google Slides, NotebookLM, and Google Vids, as well as its new Nano Banana image editing model. Google is also working to make task management smoother by automatically moving reminders from Google Keep to Google Tasks.
Gemini Enterprise brings the power of Google AI to every employee, streamlining workflows within a secure platform. With Gemini Enterprise, users can access Google's AI models through a chat interface, deploy pre-built agents, and create custom agents using a no-code workbench. Gemini can connect to various data sources, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and business applications like Salesforce and SAP.
Google has been adding several AI-driven enhancements to Gmail, including features that summarize long emails and highlight the "Add to Calendar" button when event-related messages are detected. Gemini can also draft emails, suggest responses, and find information from previous emails or Google Drive files. Gemini is available to all Gmail users with a Google AI or Ultra plan and is included with all Google Workspace subscription plans.
With the "Help me schedule" feature, Google is transforming Gmail into a self-contained scheduling hub. This provides a tangible productivity boost for professionals by reducing email threads, speeding up confirmations, and minimizing context switching. By embedding Gemini deeply across Workspace apps, Google is underscoring its commitment to context-aware, task-driven AI assistance.
