Devils' Zack MacEwen Injured, Placed on IR; Nathan Legare Called Up to Replace Him.

The New Jersey Devils have placed forward Zack MacEwen on injured reserve (IR) and recalled forward Nathan Legare from the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League (AHL). The announcement was made on November 13, 2025.

MacEwen sustained a lower-body injury during Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. He only played minimally this season, appearing in three games and registering six hits and zero points. The 29-year-old will be sidelined for at least a week.

Nathan Legare, 24, will join the team in Chicago. He has played 11 games for the Utica Comets this season, scoring one goal and racking up 21 penalty minutes. Last season, Legare recorded 17 goals and 25 points in 69 games with Utica. He also played three games with the Devils last year, marking his NHL debut.

Legare was drafted in the third round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot, 200-pound forward was a standout performer during the preseason, posting one goal and two points in three games.

The Devils' decision to place MacEwen on IR and recall Legare comes as the team navigates the challenges of injuries and roster management during the season. Legare's presence will provide additional forward depth as the team continues its schedule.
