Uttar Pradesh Woman's Tragic Act: Self-Immolation Follows Domestic Dispute with Husband.

In Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur district, a 30-year-old woman, identified as Aarti, is in critical condition after allegedly setting herself on fire following a domestic dispute with her husband, Sanju Raja. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Banpur area, at their residence in Barai village.

According to police reports, Aarti's drastic action stemmed from a quarrel with her husband, during which he allegedly refused her request to visit her parents. Lalitpur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kalu Singh stated that Aarti poured a flammable substance on herself before setting it ablaze.

Aarti was initially admitted to Lalitpur district hospital in critical condition before being transferred to Jhansi Medical College for advanced treatment due to the severity of her burn injuries.

While no formal complaint has been filed as of yet, the police are currently investigating the matter. This incident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding domestic issues and the extreme measures some individuals resort to in the face of marital discord in the region.
