Begusarai, Bihar: A tragic incident in Begusarai, Bihar, has claimed the lives of four people, including a woman and her daughter, after they were struck by a train while crossing railway tracks. The accident occurred late Wednesday night near Rahua village, within the Sahebpur Kamal police station area.
According to Sintu Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sahebpur Kamal police station, the incident took place on the Barauni-Katihar railway section. The victims were reportedly returning from a local fair when the accident occurred as they attempted to cross the tracks. It has been suggested that the victims were crossing the railway track to avoid waterlogged paths on either side.
The deceased have been identified as Dharmdev Mahato (45), his 7-year-old grandson, Roshni Kumari (daughter of Madan Mahato), and Rita Devi (wife of Madan Mahato). They were residents of Raghunathpur Karari Panchayat and were returning to their village, Rahua.
Eyewitnesses reported that the train arrived suddenly, and the victims were unable to react in time. The train was reportedly traveling on the Barauni-Khagaria route. Some reports indicate that trains were simultaneously crossing both the up and down lines, leaving no immediate route for escape. The specific train involved has been identified as the Amrapali Express.
Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing about the accident and promptly alerted the police. Police arrived at the scene and took possession of the bodies and have sent them for post-mortem examinations. Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, triggering widespread grief and anger.
