West Bengal: Man fatally stabbed at Kali Puja event over music dispute, police investigate.

A 35-year-old man, Sanatan Naskar, was allegedly stabbed to death in Sonarpur, West Bengal, on Wednesday night following an altercation over music volume at a Kali Puja pandal. The incident occurred after Naskar turned off the music in response to a request from an elderly neighbor who had a heart condition.

According to police sources, loud music had been playing in the neighborhood for three consecutive nights as part of the Kali Puja celebrations. On Wednesday night, a resident objected to the loud music, explaining that a member of her family was a heart patient. Naskar, who owned the sound system, responded to her plea by switching off the speakers and returning home.

This act reportedly infuriated Pintu Saha and his associates, who had rented the sound system for the event. They allegedly stormed into Naskar's house and demanded that the music be turned back on. When Naskar refused, the argument escalated into violence. The group allegedly assaulted Naskar's mother and brother before attacking him. One of the attackers allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed him multiple times.

Naskar was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Local residents apprehended Pintu and his wife while they were allegedly attempting to flee the area and handed them over to the Sonarpur police. Police have arrested Pintu Saha and his wife in connection with the killing and are searching for two of Pintu's relatives.

A senior police officer stated that forensic samples have been collected from the scene, and further investigation is underway. The incident has caused distress in the local community, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
