Yogi Adityanath Reviews Noida Airport Construction: Inauguration Anticipated in the Near Future

Noida Airport Site Inspected by UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Inauguration Anticipated Shortly

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an inspection of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar district, on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The inspection precedes the airport's expected inauguration, signaling its near readiness for commercial operations.

During the visit, Adityanath reviewed the development works at the under-construction airport and issued necessary directives to concerned officials. The Chief Minister's Office shared updates on X, highlighting Adityanath's on-site assessment of the terminal building and construction area. He toured the terminal building, utilizing an escalator, and participated in a meeting with officials in a conference room on the premises.

Project updates were presented to the Chief Minister by Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann and COO Kiran Jain. Adityanath was accompanied by key officials, including Gautam Buddh Nagar in-charge minister Brijesh Singh, local MLAs Dhirendra Singh and Tejpal Nagar, District Magistrate Medha Roopam, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) CEO Rakesh Singh, Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M, and project nodal officer Shailendra Bhatia.

The Noida International Airport is slated for inauguration on October 30, 2025, with commercial flight operations expected to commence within 45 days. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu stated that the airport would initially connect at least 10 cities. IndiGo and Akasa Air are among the first carriers to launch operations from the airport, offering both domestic and international routes.

Developed through a public-private partnership model, the first phase of the Noida International Airport spans approximately 1,300 hectares and features a single runway and passenger terminal. Upon full completion across four phases, the airport will cover nearly 5,000 hectares, making it the largest in India by area. The Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, is developing the project for the Uttar Pradesh government.

The airport is designed to handle 12 million passengers annually in its first phase, with plans to expand to 70 million passengers per year by 2050 with six runways. The airport will serve as an alternative to the heavily trafficked Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, becoming the third commercial airport in the Delhi NCR region.

The development of NIA is expected to boost economic progress, industrial expansion, and employment generation in Uttar Pradesh. Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh noted the airport's potential to attract global investment and development to western Uttar Pradesh. The new airport, along with the Navi Mumbai International Airport, which was recently inaugurated, aims to ease congestion and offer better flight schedules and more direct international connections. This is expected to bring India's aviation infrastructure closer to global standards.
