Rampur (UP), Oct 26 - Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has strongly criticized the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar, predicting its collapse due to internal conflicts and contradictions. Naqvi made these remarks while speaking to reporters, emphasizing that alliances are built on political understanding, not "feudal whims".
Naqvi suggested that those constantly criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi should learn alliance politics from him. He pointed out that despite the BJP securing a full majority in the Lok Sabha elections in both 2014 and 2019, Modi formed a coalition government, which continues to successfully deliver good governance. Naqvi contrasted this with the Congress party, claiming that if they had secured a majority, they would have discarded their allies. He stated that upholding the principles of alliance politics is not in the Congress party's character.
Naqvi used Hindi idioms to describe the opposition alliance, calling it "Mungerilal ke haseen sapne" (daydreaming) and "ek anaar sau bimaar" (one apple and a hundred sick people). He specifically referred to the Tejashwi Yadav-led Mahagathbandhan, predicting its downfall due to its inherent conflicts.
Naqvi further claimed that the Congress, once a national party, has shrunk and become a "non-performing asset" with no value. According to him, the Congress is suffering from "Modi phobia" and has been reduced to "frustrated folks fixated on a family photo frame".
Naqvi also accused "self-seeker satraps of pseudo secularism" of conspiring to make the BJP "politically untouchable" among Indian Muslims, leading to the community's "political marginalization". He asserted that the BJP's central and state governments have not discriminated against anyone in terms of development, despite what he characterized as Muslims' "stinginess" in voting for the BJP.
Naqvi's statement comes after the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) withdrew from the Bihar Assembly elections, citing political deceit by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress. Naqvi stated that this move exposes the weaknesses and internal ambitions within the Mahagathbandhan. He commented that the JMM's withdrawal shows how personal ambitions have overshadowed the alliance's collective goals. Congress leader Rakesh Sinha has also urged top Mahagathbandhan leaders to discuss the reasons for the JMM's withdrawal to avoid miscommunication within the alliance.
The 2025 Bihar elections are scheduled for November 6 and 11, with results expected on November 14. The main contest is expected to be between the National Democratic Alliance and the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Congress party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), the Communist Party of India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the Vikasheel Insaan Party.
