Itanagar, October 26, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of moderate rainfall and thunderstorms for Arunachal Pradesh on October 29 and 30. While the state can anticipate some wet weather towards the end of the month, the days leading up to it are expected to be relatively dry.
According to the IMD, Monday is expected to be largely dry to partly cloudy across Arunachal Pradesh. Light and isolated rain or thundershowers are possible in a few locations. Tuesday will likely follow a similar pattern, with predominantly dry skies and brief spells of light rain in isolated areas. No specific warnings have been issued for either Monday or Tuesday.
However, the weather is expected to shift starting Wednesday, October 29, as rainfall activity picks up. The IMD predicts moderate rainfall and thunderstorms over a wider area of districts on both October 29 and 30.
This wet spell in Arunachal Pradesh coincides with a broader weather pattern affecting much of India. A depression in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm, potentially impacting the eastern coastal states with heavy rainfall and strong winds. While the brunt of this cyclonic activity is expected to be felt in states like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal, the northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, are also likely to experience increased rainfall.
The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in several places across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from October 29-31. Isolated heavy rainfall is also on the forecast for Assam and Meghalaya and adjoining northeastern states during this period.
Meanwhile, other parts of India are also bracing for varied weather conditions. Western India, including the Konkan and Goa region, parts of central Maharashtra, and Gujarat, are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall through October 28. Northwest India may experience scattered rainfall, while southern peninsular India is likely to witness significant rainfall activity throughout the week.
Residents of Arunachal Pradesh are advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during the expected rainfall and thunderstorms on October 29 and 30.
