Faridabad Police have arrested a woman and her fiancé in connection with the murder of an insurance agent whose body was discovered in a drain near the Atmadpur bridge. The accused have been identified as Laxmi, 29, from Meethapur in Southeast Delhi, and Keshav, 26, from Santosh Nagar in Burari. The victim, identified as Chander, was a resident of East Vinod Nagar, Kalyanpuri, Delhi.
The case surfaced on Sunday after a motorcycle was found near a cremation ground by the drain, leading to the discovery of Chander's body, which bore head injuries and strangulation marks. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Palla police station based on a complaint filed by the victim's brother, Madan Gopal.
According to police reports, Chander had known Laxmi for four to five years and was allegedly blackmailing her to prevent her from marrying Keshav. "Initial questioning revealed that Chander...was blackmailing her to prevent her marriage to Keshav. The duo allegedly devised a plan to eliminate him," a police spokesperson stated.
The police investigation revealed that on Saturday, Laxmi lured Chander to Meethapur and then took him on a motorcycle to a secluded location near the Atmadpur bridge. There, Keshav, along with two accomplices, allegedly strangled Chander with a rope and struck him on the head, resulting in his death. The perpetrators then allegedly disposed of the body in the drain in an attempt to conceal the evidence.
Both Laxmi and Keshav have reportedly confessed to the murder. Authorities are currently conducting raids to apprehend the other two individuals involved in the crime. The two primary accused are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday for further legal proceedings.
This incident bears similarities to a case in Gurgaon from August 2025, where a woman was arrested for murdering her husband after initially reporting him missing.
