Muzaffarpur/Chapra, Bihar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) campaign for the Bihar Assembly elections on Thursday, October 30, 2025, addressing rallies in Muzaffarpur and Saran districts. His speeches centered on the promise of a "twin-engine" government, development, and a sharp critique of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks regarding the Chhath Puja festival.
Modi emphasized the benefits of having an NDA government at both the state and central levels, referring to it as a "twin-engine". He asserted that this synergy would accelerate development in Bihar, ensuring that the state catches up with more prosperous regions of the country. He highlighted the NDA's commitment to providing jobs, stopping migration, and promoting Bihar's culture and pride. The Prime Minister also took a dig at the previous governments, stating that they had betrayed the people with false promises.
A significant portion of the Prime Minister's address was dedicated to criticizing Rahul Gandhi's comments about Chhath Puja. Gandhi had allegedly accused Modi of "doing drama" in the name of the festival and suggested he would "even dance on stage for votes". Modi responded sharply, accusing Gandhi of insulting the revered festival and the sentiments of the people of Bihar. He contrasted this with the NDA's efforts to promote Chhath Mahaparv and secure UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status for it.
Beyond the "twin-engine" promise and the criticism of Gandhi, Modi also touched upon broader development goals for Bihar. He reiterated the NDA's commitment to preventing migration from the state by creating employment opportunities and fostering local development. He also took a dig at Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, calling them "Yuvrajs" from corrupt families who are out on bail. He accused them of opening shops of false promises and misleading the people.
Echoing the Prime Minister's sentiments, BJP President JP Nadda asserted that Bihar had progressed from being a "BIMARU" state to a leading state under the NDA government. He credited this transformation to the people's power to vote and claimed that the RJD and Congress were not concerned about the welfare of the people. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his rallies in Lakhisarai, Munger, Nalanda, and Patna, stated that the NDA government had freed Bihar from Naxalism, kidnappings, and "jungle raj". He also dismissed the Mahagathbandhan manifesto as a "bundle of lies".
The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the results being declared on November 14.
