Shahjahanpur, UP: A 50-year-old man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur for allegedly beating his 18-year-old daughter to death after an argument over her phone conversations with a male friend. The incident occurred in Sutnera village on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Noor Mohammad, the accused, reportedly objected to his daughter Ruby's phone calls, leading to frequent disputes between them. The conflict escalated when Noor Mohammad broke Ruby's phone, triggering a heated argument that turned violent. According to police reports, Noor Mohammad thrashed Ruby with a stick in a fit of rage, resulting in her death.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi confirmed the details of the incident, stating that the father-daughter relationship was strained due to restrictions placed on Ruby’s social interactions, particularly concerning her mobile phone usage. A family member revealed during questioning that Noor Mohammad, overwhelmed by frustration, attacked Ruby with the stick.
Following the incident, police arrived at the scene and took Ruby's body for a post-mortem examination. A search was immediately launched for Noor Mohammad, who was found hiding in the village and taken into custody. He is currently being interrogated as authorities gather evidence to build their case.
