Bihar Elections: PM Modi Slams RJD's 15 Years of 'Zero Development' in Araria Rally

Amidst the ongoing Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) during a rally in Araria. Coinciding with the first phase of the assembly polls, Modi accused the RJD of "zero development" during its 15-year rule, denouncing it as "Jungle Raj".

Addressing a massive crowd, Modi asserted that Bihar was completely ruined during the RJD's governance from 1990 to 2005, a period he characterized by lawlessness, corruption, and misgovernance. He claimed that no significant infrastructure projects were undertaken during that time, questioning the construction of expressways, bridges, sports complexes, or tourist circuits. Modi contrasted this with the development work carried out by the NDA government, urging voters to strengthen Bihar by choosing them. He emphasized the power of each vote, reminding the audience of Bihar's journey and the progress achievable under the NDA.

Modi also targeted the RJD-Congress alliance, accusing them of having a "soft corner" for infiltrators for vote bank politics, while disliking Lord Ram and the Chhath festival. He alleged that the opposition parties protect infiltrators, compromising the country's security and faith. Modi criticized their reluctance to visit Ayodhya and shrines dedicated to Dalit and backward class icons, suggesting a "hatred" for these communities. He further claimed that the RJD-Congress combine tries to provide backdoor entry to infiltrators whenever in power.

The Prime Minister highlighted the enthusiasm among Bihar's youth and praised the high voter turnout in the first phase, seeing it as a desire for change. He expressed confidence in the NDA's victory and appealed to voters to cast their votes in large numbers. Modi also alluded to discord between Congress and RJD, predicting it would intensify after the elections.

In a related development, the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 recorded a voter turnout of 60.13% till 5 PM. Polling took place across 121 constituencies, with Gopalganj recording the highest turnout at 46.73%. The assembly elections are being carried out after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which now has 7.24 crore voters across the state. The votes will be counted and the results declared on November 14, 2025.
