Uttar Pradesh Horror: Man Bound to Pole and Brutally Set Ablaze by Three Assailants, Fighting for Life.

Budaun, UP – A 20-year-old man, identified as Mehboob, was allegedly tied to an electric pole and set ablaze by three minors in Uttar Pradesh's Budaun district on Friday. The incident occurred in the Mustafabad Nai Basti area, within the Islamnagar police station limits.

According to police reports, the incident took place as Mehboob was returning home after offering Friday prayers. Preliminary investigations suggest a verbal altercation occurred the previous day at a local mosque between Mehboob and the accused regarding the prayer spot. The three minors allegedly intercepted Mehboob, tied him to a pole, poured petrol on him, and set him on fire.

The ropes binding Mehboob reportedly burned away in the fire, allowing him to escape and run home, screaming for help. He was rushed to a community health center in critical condition, suffering from over 70% burn injuries, and was subsequently referred to a district hospital for advanced treatment. His maternal uncle, Kaisar, reported that Mehboob is severely burnt and has swelling around his eyes, making it difficult for him to see. However, Kaisar believes Mehboob will be able to identify the attackers once his condition improves.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Hirdayesh Kumar Katheria stated that the police had not received any prior complaints regarding the dispute. He also noted that investigations indicated Mehboob himself had purchased petrol from a nearby pump around the same time. CCTV footage from the petrol pump has been collected, and Katheria said the matter appeared suspicious.

Police have detained the three minors named by Mehboob for questioning. Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the attack. The investigation is ongoing, and police are verifying all angles.

Initial reports indicated Mehboob's condition was critical. However, later reports suggest that his condition has stabilized and he is out of danger. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Aligarh.
