Bengaluru: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat stated on Saturday that Hindus are responsible for Bharat. Addressing a lecture in Bengaluru titled “100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons,” Bhagwat described the RSS as an "organised force that doesn't seek power".
Bhagwat emphasized the RSS's role is to serve and organize society for the glory of Bharat Mata (Mother India) without seeking power or prominence. He stated that the idea was once hard to believe, but now it is becoming more accepted.
When asked why the RSS focuses on Hindu society, Bhagwat stated that Hindus are responsible for Bharat, and that the nationhood was not given to them by the British, but that it is an ancient nation. He further explained that every nation has a core culture, and for Bharat, that core is Hindu.
Bhagwat clarified his view of "Hindu Rashtra", stating that it aligns with the Constitution by uniting Hindu society. He also emphasized that all Indians share a common ancestry and culture, which makes everyone essentially Hindu.
