Uttarakhand's Everest Hero: 16-Year-Old Sachin Kumar Honored by Chief Minister Dhami After His Triumphant Climb.

Dehradun, November 11 – Sixteen-year-old Sachin Kumar, who successfully summited Mount Everest in May 2025, met with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday. The Chief Minister lauded the young mountaineer's extraordinary achievement at such a young age, praising his courage, determination, and hard work.

Sachin Kumar, a resident of Uttarkashi and a student at Rajkiya Adarsh Kirti Inter College, was part of the All India NCC expedition team that reached the summit of Mount Everest on May 18, 2025. He was the youngest climber to scale Mt Everest this year. The team included 10 student cadets selected from across the country, with five of them being women. The expedition team had departed from Delhi on April 3.

CM Dhami stated that Sachin's success not only brings honor to his family and the state but also serves as an inspiration to young people across India. He added that Sachin's achievement exemplifies the values of discipline, teamwork, and the continuous pursuit of excellence.

Sachin, in return, expressed his gratitude to CM Dhami and pledged to continue striving for excellence and bringing further glory to his state and country. He was among three NCC cadets from Uttarakhand who scaled Mount Everest, demonstrating courage and teamwork. The other two cadets were Virendra Samant and Mukul Bangwal.

Prior to the expedition, Sachin and other selected cadets underwent rigorous training in Siachen. The final team of 10 was then chosen for the Everest expedition.

The Uttarakhand Directorate of Sports has announced that the climbers from the state will be officially welcomed and felicitated upon their return.

Major General Rohan Anand, Additional Director General of Uttarakhand NCC, highlighted that the expedition aimed to inspire Indian youth towards adventure, leadership, and self-reliance. He noted that the cadets overcame physical, environmental, and mental challenges, reaching the pinnacle of success through teamwork and commitment.

Sachin's accomplishment, along with those of his fellow cadets, is seen as a testament to the potential of India's youth and their ability to achieve extraordinary feats through courage, unity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
