Veteran actor Dharmendra has been discharged from Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday morning after several days of medical supervision. The 89-year-old actor, fondly known as "He-Man" in Bollywood, is now recovering at home with his family. His younger son, Bobby Deol, was seen escorting him home from the hospital in an ambulance.
Dharmendra had been admitted to the hospital earlier this week after complaining of breathlessness. On November 10, he was moved to the ICU for closer monitoring. News of his hospitalization prompted an outpouring of concern from fans and members of the film fraternity. Many celebrities, including Aamir Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel, visited him at the hospital. Others, such as Hina Khan, shared heartfelt messages on social media, wishing him a speedy recovery.
Amidst the concern, false rumors regarding Dharmendra's health, including speculation that he was on a ventilator and had passed away, circulated online. His family quickly refuted these claims. A representative for his son, Sunny Deol, clarified that Dharmendra was stable and under observation. Daughter Esha Deol also issued a statement, urging the media to avoid spreading false news and requesting privacy for the family. Hema Malini also thanked everyone for their concern and requested prayers for his well-being and quick recovery.
Doctors at Breach Candy Hospital have confirmed that Dharmendra is stable and recovering well. Dr. Pratit Samdani told PTI that the family decided to take him home for continued treatment. "Dharmendra ji was discharged from the hospital around 7:30 a.m. He will be treated at home as the family has decided to give him treatment at home," Dr. Samdani stated.
Bobby Deol was photographed leaving the hospital, with reports noting he appeared emotional. A large crowd of fans and paparazzi gathered outside Dharmendra's residence as he returned home.
Dharmendra has had a remarkable cinematic career spanning over six decades. He began acting in 1960 and has appeared in more than 300 films. He was last seen in "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya," which was released in February 2024. His upcoming project is "Ikkis," directed by Sriram Raghavan, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda.
