Pakistan's Salman Ali Agha and Abrar Ahmed Ascend to Career-Best ODI Rankings After Recent Performances

DUBAI: Pakistan's cricket stars, Salman Ali Agha and Abrar Ahmed, have achieved significant milestones in the latest ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings, following their impressive performances in the recent home series against South Africa and Sri Lanka. The rankings, released on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, showcase the significant progress made by these players in theOne Day International arena.

Salman Ali Agha, the dynamic middle-order batter, has made a remarkable jump in the ODI batting rankings, climbing 14 places to reach a career-best 16th position. His ascent is largely attributed to his match-winning, unbeaten knock of 105 runs off 87 balls in the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. This performance not only guided Pakistan to a thrilling six-run victory but also significantly boosted his global ranking. Agha's consistent performance and ability to perform under pressure have made him a key figure in Pakistan's middle order. With his recent rise, Salman is now the second-highest ranked ODI batter from Pakistan, only behind captain Babar Azam, who currently holds the 7th position. In addition to his batting performance, Salman Ali Agha has also climbed seven spots to 11th position in the all-rounder rankings, making him Pakistan's highest-ranked all-rounder in ODIs.

Abrar Ahmed, the mystery spinner, has also made significant strides in the bowling charts, leaping 17 places to 20th position after strong performances in recent matches. His notable performances against South Africa, where he claimed 3 for 53 and 4 for 27, highlighted his control and wicket-taking ability in the middle overs. Abrar's ability to bamboozle batsmen with his variations has quickly established him as a promising spin option in white-ball cricket. He now trails only Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is in 16th position, among Pakistan's ODI bowlers.

Other Pakistani players have also experienced movement in the latest rankings. Saim Ayub has continued his upward trajectory, rising 18 places to join 35th position. Haris Rauf's four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka saw him move up three spots to 28th in the ICC Bowling Rankings. However, some senior players have faced mixed fortunes, with Babar Azam slipping two spots to seventh, Mohammad Rizwan falling four places to 27th, and Fakhar Zaman dropping five positions to 31st.

In the all-rounders category, Naseem Shah improved three positions to 28th, Saim Ayub jumped 12 spots to 37th, while Shaheen Afridi slipped two places to 30th.

Globally, other players have also seen changes in their rankings. Charith Asalanka of Sri Lanka climbed one spot to 6th, while South Africa's Quinton de Kock moved up four places to 15th. In the bowling department, Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka moved up to ninth position.
