Kamini Kaushal's Death: Bollywood Stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani Express Grief and Pay Tribute

Kamini Kaushal, a veteran actress of Hindi cinema, has passed away at the age of 98 in her Mumbai home. Her death marks the end of an era, as she was one of the last remaining icons of Indian cinema's golden age. Kamini Kaushal's career spanned over seven decades, beginning with her debut in the 1946 film "Neecha Nagar," which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. A source close to the family confirmed the news, stating that the family is private and needs space to grieve.

Kaushal was born in Lahore and was the youngest of five siblings. She appeared in over 90 films throughout her career. Some of her notable works include "Do Bhai" (1947), "Shaheed" (1948), "Nadiya Ke Paar" (1948), "Ziddi" (1948), and "Shabnam" (1949). She starred opposite prominent actors like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, and Raj Kapoor. Her pairing with Dilip Kumar in movies like "Nadiya Ke Paar", "Shaheed", "Shabnam", and "Aarzoo" was widely loved. Beyond Bollywood, Kaushal also appeared in the British television series "The Jewel in the Crown" in 1984 and the Doordarshan show "Chand Sitare".

Even in her later years, Kaushal remained active in cinema. Her last on-screen appearance was in the 2022 film "Laal Singh Chaddha".

Following the news of her demise, several members of the film industry took to social media to express their condolences. Shahid Kapoor, who worked with Kamini Kaushal in "Kabir Singh" (2019), shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, posting a collage of her photos with the caption, "Rest in light ma’am". In "Kabir Singh", Kaushal played the role of Shahid's grandmother.

Kiara Advani, who also starred in "Kabir Singh," penned a touching tribute, saying, "It was an honour to work with you. Your grace, humility, and talent inspired generations and left an unforgettable mark on Indian cinema. Rest in peace, Kamini Kaushal ji".

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who worked with Kaushal in "Laal Singh Chaddha," shared a throwback picture of the late actress with heart emojis. Gulshan Devaiah also shared a post on his Instagram stories.

Kamini Kaushal is survived by her three sons: Shravan, Vidur, and Rahul.
