In the latest buzz from the Bollywood sphere, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has ignited a social media debate with a cryptic post about ethics, while director Mohit Suri is celebrating a significant milestone in his career.
Amitabh Bachchan's recent social media activity has sparked considerable discussion, with the actor expressing his dismay over what he perceives as a lack of ethics in certain areas. Bachchan shared a message on his blog and X (formerly Twitter), stating, "no ethics .. no ethics at all," and "No ethics .. no sense of responsibility .. just an avenue of personal gain, without any consideration of the moment … Disturbing and disgusting". While the actor did not explicitly mention the subject of his criticism, many online users have connected his remarks to the media coverage surrounding veteran actor Dharmendra's recent hospitalization. The intense media scrutiny and alleged breaches of privacy faced by Dharmendra and his family have drawn condemnation from various members of the film fraternity. The Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) has even filed a formal complaint with the police against certain paparazzi and online media platforms, citing "inhuman" and "unethical" behavior in their coverage of Dharmendra's health condition. The IFTDA alleges that some individuals invaded the actor's privacy by entering his residence and recording footage without consent. This isn't the first time Jaya Bachchan has been seen schooling photographers, while Amitabh Bachchan is often considered the calm one.
Meanwhile, in a heartwarming turn of events, director Mohit Suri is basking in the glory of his film 'Saiyaara' receiving the Popular Choice Award at the Yellowstone International Film Festival 2025. This marks Suri's first award in his 20-year-long career, making the achievement all the more special. "This is really special. I've been around for 20 years, and this is my first award,” Suri said. The musical romantic drama 'Saiyaara,' starring Ahan Panday and Aneet Padda, was released on July 18 and has garnered immense commercial success, collecting nearly ₹570 crore worldwide. The film's title track also achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Hindi song to enter the Billboard Top 10 List globally.
At a ceremony in Mumbai, Suri and Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani accepted the award. Suri expressed his gratitude to Aditya Chopra, chairman of YRF, for believing in his vision and supporting a simple love story in an era dominated by action spectacles. He also acknowledged Akshaye Widhani's support, stating that the award belonged more to him. Widhani praised Suri's exceptional work and thanked audiences worldwide for embracing the film and its music. He also stated, “Thank you Yellowstone International Film Festival - this is a great honor. It's our first award for Saiyaara, so it's really special so thank you! I think Saiyaara is Mohit, Mohit is Saiyaara. It's been an amazing journey which started early 2024 and I'm glad that we're here today celebrating this moment".
The success of 'Saiyaara' has been compared to the debut of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel in 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai,' with many noting its impact on redefining romance for contemporary audiences. The film's achievements include the highest opening for debut actors and months-long dominance on music streaming charts.
