In a thrilling finale of the Women's ODI Tri-Series in Colombo, Smriti Mandhana showcased her exceptional batting prowess by smashing a brilliant century against Sri Lanka. This remarkable feat marked her 11th century in Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs), solidifying her place as one of the leading run-scorers in the format.

India won the toss and elected to bat first in the crucial final clash. Mandhana, opening the innings alongside Pratika Rawal, provided a solid start for the team. The duo cautiously negotiated the initial overs before accelerating the scoring rate. However, Rawal was dismissed in the 15th over for 30, ending the opening partnership at 70 runs.

Following Rawal's dismissal, Harleen Deol joined Mandhana at the crease, and together they forged a formidable partnership. Mandhana, who appeared to be struggling with cramps due to the Colombo heat, displayed remarkable grit and determination. She reached her half-century with a boundary, demonstrating excellent timing and control.

As Mandhana approached her century, she unleashed a flurry of boundaries, including four consecutive fours off Chamari Athapaththu in the 31st over, to reach the milestone in style. She completed her century in just 92 deliveries. Her innings was laced with exquisite shots, including 15 fours and 2 sixes.

After reaching her century, Mandhana continued her aggressive approach, but her innings was cut short when she was caught by Harshitha Madavi off Dewmi Vihanga's delivery for 116 off 101 balls. Her magnificent innings powered India to a strong position of 193/2 in 33 overs.

With this century, Mandhana has surpassed 4,450 runs in her WODI career, maintaining an impressive average of over 46. She now holds the third position for the most centuries in Women's ODIs, trailing behind Meg Lanning (15) and Suzie Bates (13). She has also become the second Indian woman to score 10 ODI centuries, joining Mithali Raj in the elite list. It was also her first century against Sri Lanka in WODIs.

Mandhana's journey in cricket has been filled with remarkable achievements. She has received several accolades, including the ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year awards in 2018 and 2021. Her contributions have been pivotal in India's success in various international tournaments. As the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 approaches, her form and experience will be crucial for India's chances of winning the coveted title.

The final of the Tri-Series was not broadcast on television in India, but fans were able to watch the live streaming on the FanCode app.
