In a brazen act of violence, five armed men stormed into Paras Hospital in Patna, Bihar, and fatally shot gangster Chandan Mishra, who was undergoing treatment. The Bihar police have moved swiftly, identifying all the accused and arresting at least one, Tausif Badshah, while conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The incident occurred on Thursday, when the assailants entered the hospital and opened fire on Mishra, who had a long criminal record with multiple murder cases against him. He was out on parole for medical reasons when the attack took place. CCTV footage captured the chilling scene of the shooters calmly walking through the hospital corridors, guns in hand, before executing the murder. After the shooting, the footage shows them fleeing the scene. New visuals have surfaced of the accused riding bikes and brazenly wielding a gun near the Paras Hospital.
Authorities have identified Tausif Badshah as the main gunman. Badshah, a resident of Patna's Phulwarisharif, was familiar with Paras Hospital and its security. His social media presence paints a picture of a person with swagger, with Instagram reels showing him cruising through Patna and Facebook posts with captions like, "In the jungle where you roam like a lion, I am the fearless hunter".
The police suspect that the murder was orchestrated by Onkarnath alias Sheru Singh, a former associate of Chandan Mishra who is currently serving a life sentence for murder in Purulia jail, West Bengal. Sheru suspected Mishra of informing the police about his gang members. According to reports, the crime is likely the result of an old gang rivalry. Chandan and Sheru, once close associates, had a falling out while lodged in Bhagalpur jail. Although Chandan later split from the gang, he continued to operate under the Sheru gang's name.
Following the incident, six suspects have been detained from Patna and Buxar districts. Raids are underway at locations linked to the "Sheru gang," the criminal gang suspected to be behind the attack. Inspector General of the central range (Patna), told news agency PTI that all six assailants have been captured. Police are analyzing the CCTV footage frame by frame to identify the shooters and trace their escape route. Initial investigations suggest that the shooters are linked to a local real estate firm and have prior involvement in criminal activities.
