Union Minister Chirag Paswan has made a startling allegation, claiming that there is a conspiracy to assassinate him via a bomb attack. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader made this statement during a rally in Munger, Bihar, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Paswan stated that his political rivals are orchestrating these threats because of his rising influence and his "Bihar First, Bihari First" slogan, which challenges the prevailing caste-based politics. He accused his opponents of attempting to divide people based on caste and religion, asserting that they are afraid of the unity of Bihar's youth. Paswan believes that these individuals, who he claims plunged Bihar into poverty and backwardness while in power, are now resorting to false promises and conspiracies to maintain their dominance.
"Many people are upset with Chirag Paswan's 'Bihar First, Bihari First' slogan, which strikes at the roots of their caste politics," Paswan said. He added that his detractors have tried unsuccessfully to break him in the past, but they have now hatched a new conspiracy. "They are now trying to blow me up with a bomb," the Union Minister declared.
Undeterred by these threats, Paswan proclaimed that he cannot be intimidated. "They forget that Chirag Paswan is a tiger's cub (sher ka beta). He does not know how to bend, and it is impossible to scare him," he asserted.
The claim comes a week after reports that Paswan received a death threat on social media. Following the social media threat, the LJP (Ram Vilas) filed a police complaint at the cyber police station in Patna. Rajesh Kumar Bhatt, the party's chief spokesperson, filed the complaint against an Instagram user who allegedly threatened to blow up Paswan. While the FIR did not name any specific individual or political party, the LJP(RV) claimed on its social media that the person behind the threat was an RJD supporter.
During the rally in Munger, Paswan also criticized his estranged uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, and indirectly attacked RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. He accused them of promoting caste-based politics and misleading the public with false promises before the elections.
In response to Paswan's allegations, a senior LJP (RV) leader, speaking anonymously, suggested that Paswan might have been referring to the recent FIR filed regarding the Instagram threat and using it for rhetorical effect.
Meanwhile, Jamui MP Arun Bharti has accused RJD's criminal elements of being behind the threat to blow up Chirag Paswan. He alleged that this threat is an attack on the Bahujan leadership and criticized Tejashwi Yadav for not establishing a single school during his tenure that could enable him to pass the matriculation exam. Bharti also mentioned that his party is preparing to contest in all 243 seats in the upcoming elections and that a survey is being conducted to determine which general seat Chirag Paswan will contest from after the seat-sharing arrangement within the NDA alliance is finalized.
The assembly elections in Bihar are scheduled later this year, though the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet announced the official dates.
