A passenger bus overturned near Jhajjar Kotli in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on Saturday morning, July 19, 2025, injuring at least 12 people, including three women. The accident occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

The bus, bearing registration number JK02AT 2279, was en route from Udhampur to Jammu when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Jhajjar Kotli, causing it to overturn. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was speeding, which contributed to the accident. The vehicle was severely damaged in the crash.

Local residents and law enforcement responded immediately to the incident. Police and emergency teams rushed to the scene to carry out rescue operations. The injured were evacuated and promptly shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Jammu for medical treatment. Several of the injured passengers are in critical condition.

Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary investigations suggest that over-speeding was a contributing factor.
