Himachal Pradesh BJP President Rajiv Bindal has strongly criticized the Congress-led state government's recently introduced "job trainee" scheme, accusing them of deceiving unemployed youth and failing to deliver on pre-election promises of providing regular jobs. Bindal claims that instead of creating promised employment opportunities, the Congress government is using this scheme as a tactic to postpone addressing the state's unemployment crisis.
Bindal highlighted that Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, had pledged to provide 1 lakh government jobs annually. He pointed to an old video of Vadra making this promise, emphasizing that other prominent Congress figures like Rajiv Shukla, Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri had echoed similar assurances before the assembly elections. Bindal stated that the "job trainee" scheme, where candidates are engaged for two years in Group A, B, and C posts with a fixed stipend instead of a regular salary, is a diversionary tactic. He argued that regular job consideration would only occur after candidates pass an examination or efficiency test, effectively delaying genuine employment opportunities.
Bindal pointed out the contradiction between the Congress government's initial announcement to fill 63,000 vacant posts and create 37,000 new ones and the implementation of the "job trainee" scheme. He alleged that this scheme is merely a "ruse" to defer job creation by at least a year, further exacerbating the unemployment issue. He also raised concerns about transparency and fairness in the hiring process, alleging that only individuals with political connections are benefiting from the scheme. Bindal went further, stating that this government either makes anti-people decisions or avoids making any decisions at all.
The BJP leader claimed the government has no concrete plan for successful implementation of the scheme. He questioned who would appoint the trainees and what benefits they would receive. He also claimed that the trainees would not be entitled to benefits such as HIMCARE or Ayushman Bharat, nor would their medical bills be reimbursed.
Bindal also criticized the government's past actions, alleging that it closed employment-generating institutions and abolished 1.50 lakh posts in Himachal Pradesh. He further said that instead of providing jobs to youth, the government has scrapped the posts. He added that the government had not created an outsource policy, nor opened any other avenues for providing jobs.
