Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Air at its annual product event on September 9, 2025. The iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever made, boasting a sleek design and advanced features.

Design and Build

The iPhone Air measures a mere 5.6mm in thickness, making it the thinnest iPhone to date. The frame is constructed from titanium with a polished finish, and the device features Ceramic Shield 2 on both sides for 3x better scratch resistance, enhancing its durability. The design includes a new plateau that spans the entire rear width, housing the rear camera, front camera, speaker, and Apple Silicon. It will be available in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue finishes. The iPhone Air weighs just 165 grams.

Display

The iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology, offering up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The display boasts a peak outdoor brightness of 3,000 nits, the highest ever on an iPhone. The front glass also has a 7-layer antireflective coating to minimize glare and improve readability in bright conditions.

Performance

The iPhone Air is powered by the A19 Pro chip, featuring a six-core CPU. The GPU includes the second generation of Dynamic Caching, doubled math rates, and unified image compression. It also houses the new C1X custom modem, which is twice as fast, and a custom-designed N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and Thread connectivity. The iPhone Air is an eSIM-only device.

Camera

The device sports a single 48-megapixel rear fusion camera with 1x and 2x modes. An 18-megapixel front-facing camera features Center Stage, utilizing AI to automatically expand the field of view and rotate the frame based on the number of people on screen. A square sensor enables four different composition sizes, eliminating the need to rotate the phone for landscape selfies. The camera system supports dual-capture video, combining the front and rear cameras. Stabilization from the front camera keeps the subject in frame while the rear camera allows for zooming in.

Battery

Apple promises all-day battery life for the iPhone Air, complemented by a new low-profile MagSafe battery pack for extended use. The battery supports up to 40 hours of video playback when combined with the MagSafe battery pack.

Software

The iPhone Air comes pre-installed with iOS 26, which introduces Apple's new Liquid Glass design language. The update features transparent, "bubbly" effects on navigational elements and icons.

Pricing and Availability

The iPhone Air will be available in Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue. Pricing starts at $999. Pre-orders begin on Friday, September 12, with availability starting on September 19.

India Pricing

While official pricing is yet to be confirmed, the iPhone Air is expected to start around ₹74,990 in India for the base variant with 128GB storage. Other estimates suggest a starting price of ₹99,990. Some reports indicate the iPhone Air will start at ₹119,900 with 256GB storage. It will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.
