Bollywood Diwali 2025: "Thamma," "Ek Deewane," and Other Highly Anticipated Movie Releases to Light Up the Festive Season

Diwali 2025 is set to illuminate the box office with a diverse range of Bollywood offerings, promising a cinematic feast for every moviegoer. Among the most anticipated releases are "Thamma" and "Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat,".

"Thamma" is a romantic comedy infused with supernatural elements, specifically vampires. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, "Thamma" stars Ayushmann Khurrana as a historian exploring the mythological roots of vampirism in India. Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal round out the cast. Originally titled "Vampires of Vijay Nagar," the film was later renamed "Thamma". Unlike previous installments in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, "Thamma" leans more towards romantic comedy with supernatural and mythical themes. The film connects contemporary India with the ancient Vijayanagar kingdom across two timelines. Varun Dhawan is expected to make a cameo, reprising his role from "Bhediya". The film is the fifth installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.

"Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat," a romantic drama directed by Milap Zaveri, offers a contrasting cinematic experience. Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, the film is produced by Desi Movies Factory. The movie was initially scheduled for release on October 2, 2025, but was later postponed to coincide with Diwali on October 21, 2025. Director Milap Milan Zaveri described the song "Mera Hua" as the "heartbeat" of the film, capturing the essence of love at first sight between the lead characters. The film's music album is already generating buzz, with tracks like "Deewaniyat," "Bol Kaffara," and "Mera Hua" resonating with audiences.

Adding to the Diwali lineup is "Bhagwat: Chapter 1 - Raakshas," a gritty crime drama starring Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar, which will be released on ZEE5 on October 17, 2025.

Several other films are also slated for release in October 2025, including "Kantara: Chapter 1," "Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari," and "Go Goa Gone 2". "Kantara: Chapter 1," directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, arrives in theaters on October 2, 2025, blending folklore, mythology, and intense drama. Varun Dhawan's "Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari," directed by Shashank Khaitan, promises a fun, family-friendly entertainer, also releasing on October 2, 2025. "Go Goa Gone 2," the sequel to the zom-com hit, is set to release on October 15, 2025, with Saif Ali Khan, Vir Das, and Kunal Kemmu returning.
