Karan Johar has officially confirmed that Apoorva Mukhija, also known as "The Rebel Kid," will be a part of the highly anticipated reality series, 'The Traitors India.' The show, adapted from the BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning format, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 12, 2025.

Johar, who is hosting the Indian adaptation, shared the news via social media, teasing fans with glimpses of the celebrities participating in the show. Alongside Mukhija, other rumored contestants include Uorfi Javed, and possibly one of the cast members from "Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives." While the full list of participants hasn't been officially revealed, names like Karan Kundrra, Jasmine Bhasin, Sudhanshu Pandey, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Jannat Zubair have also been circulating.

'The Traitors' is a reality competition where contestants, including famous reality TV personalities, live in a castle and participate in a game of trust and betrayal to win a cash prize. In the game, a group of contestants arrive at a castle with hopes of winning a large cash prize that is built up through missions. The players are referred to as the "Faithful" but among them are the "Traitors" – a group of contestants selected by the host, whose goal is to eliminate the Faithfuls and claim the prize for themselves. Should the Faithful contestants eliminate all the Traitors, they will share the prize fund, but if any Traitors make it to the end, they steal the money.

Apoorva Mukhija, known for her outspoken personality and social media presence, recently faced a wave of online backlash following her appearance on the YouTube show "India's Got Latent." The controversy resulted in Mukhija receiving severe online harassment, including rape and death threats, which led to her briefly deleting her Instagram posts. However, she has since returned to social media, using her platform to speak out against online abuse and share her experiences.

Despite the recent controversy, Mukhija remains a prominent voice on social media, known for her bold and unapologetic content. Her inclusion in 'The Traitors India' marks a significant step in her career, providing her with a platform to showcase her personality and strategic skills to a wider audience.

Karan Johar himself is a self-proclaimed fan of 'The Traitors' format, having watched both the UK and US versions of the show. He expressed his excitement about bringing the show to India, promising a season filled with "unforgettable and unpredictable" moments.

Nikhil Madhok, head of originals at Amazon Prime Video India, echoed Johar's sentiments, stating that 'The Traitors India' will be "packed with drama, manipulation, suspenseful gameplay, and unexpected twists." He added that Johar is the perfect host to "stoke the fire in this volatile mix of 20 celebrities, each vying for a massive cash prize and the title of ultimate winner."

'The Traitors India' is produced by BBC Studios India Productions and will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 12, 2025.
