Jax Taylor, the former "Vanderpump Rules" star, has recently announced his decision to step away from social media, prioritizing his mental health and ongoing recovery from drug addiction. The 45-year-old reality TV personality shared this news via his Instagram Stories, stating that his team will manage his accounts in the interim. This decision underscores a crucial turning point for Taylor, who has been increasingly open about his struggles with substance abuse and mental health challenges.

Taylor's choice to distance himself from social media stems from a need to protect his fragile mental state. Speaking on his podcast, "In the Mind of Jax Taylor," he confessed that certain online content could be triggering, potentially derailing his progress. He acknowledged the double-edged sword of social media, recognizing the need to stay informed while admitting his tendency to retreat into isolation. Ultimately, he concluded that his phone had become a problem, and his well-being necessitated a break.

This announcement follows Taylor's previous candid admissions about his long-term battle with cocaine addiction. In March 2025, during an emotional appearance on Bravo's "Hot Mic" podcast, Taylor declared, "I am an addict," revealing that he had been grappling with substance abuse on and off since the age of 23. He expressed that admitting his addiction and acknowledging it as a lifelong struggle was a significant step, lifting a weight off his shoulders. Taylor also shared that he doesn't believe he has an alcohol problem, but the two substances go hand in hand. He proudly announced he was 83 days sober, marking it as the longest period of sobriety in his life.

Taylor's journey to recovery has been far from easy. In early 2025, he reached a critical turning point and sought professional treatment. His recovery plan included medical detoxification, intensive therapy sessions, group counseling, family therapy, and holistic healing approaches. He checked into an in-patient facility in September 2024, where he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD. He has also attended AA meetings, has a life coach and a celebrity sponsor who has been by his side during this journey.

His estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, has publicly voiced both support and skepticism regarding his recovery. While acknowledging the damage Taylor has caused, she expressed hope that he would overcome his addiction for the sake of their son, Cruz. Cartwright stated she spent years trying to help Taylor "get better".

Taylor's struggles have not only impacted his personal life but also his career. The backlash from his behavior led to the cancellation of his podcast tour. Despite the challenges, Taylor remains committed to his recovery, recognizing the need to address his issues and become a better person.

By stepping away from social media and prioritizing his mental health, Jax Taylor is taking a proactive approach to his recovery journey. This decision reflects a growing awareness of the impact of social media on mental well-being, particularly for those battling addiction and mental health issues. His openness about his struggles serves as a reminder that addiction is a serious disease and that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
