In the wake of the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, which claimed the lives of 241 people, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has extended his deepest condolences to the Rupani family. The flight, AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, sending shockwaves across the nation.

Kharge expressed his shock and grief at the devastating accident, emphasizing the heart-wrenching visuals and offering heartfelt sympathies to the families of the passengers, pilot, and crew. He urged Congress leaders and workers to provide all possible assistance and support to the victims and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

"We are all with you," Kharge's message conveyed, aiming to provide solace and support to the Rupani family and all those affected by the tragedy. He acknowledged the immense loss and the pain experienced by the families who lost their loved ones in the crash.

Furthermore, Kharge stressed the importance of a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the crash. He stated that all facts, including potential pilot error or other contributing factors, should be examined to prevent similar tragedies in the future. He urged caution against assigning blame prematurely, emphasizing the need to await the findings of the black box investigation. "This is not the time to take credit — let the black box reveal the truth before assigning blame," Kharge asserted, advocating for a comprehensive and impartial inquiry.

In addition to his message of support, Kharge also called upon the government to provide immediate assistance to the families of the victims. He urged the government to provide adequate compensation to the bereaved families and ensure that those responsible for any negligence are held accountable. "The government must give compensation to kin of plane crash victims and fix accountability," he stated, highlighting the need for the government to take responsibility and provide necessary support to the affected families.

Kharge, along with AICC media head Pawan Khera and Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, visited the Ahmedabad crash site and the injured at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. During his visit, he reiterated his call for unity and support, urging party workers to assist in providing essential resources like medicines and other necessities to those in need.

The Ahmedabad plane crash has brought immense grief and sorrow to the nation. The loss of lives, including that of former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, has been deeply felt by people across the country. Mallikarjun Kharge's message to the Rupani family and his call for a thorough investigation and government support reflect the shared grief and the need for accountability and assistance during this difficult time.
