Reliance Industries, helmed by Mukesh Ambani, has launched Reliance Intelligence, a wholly-owned subsidiary, with the ambitious goal of making AI accessible to every Indian. Announced at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) on Friday, August 29, 2025, this initiative aims to establish India as a global hub for AI innovation and drive national growth.

Reliance Intelligence will focus on four key missions. The first is building next-generation AI infrastructure, including gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centers powered by green energy in Jamnagar. Work on these facilities has already commenced, with phased delivery aligned to India's growing AI needs. These data centers will be custom-made for AI training and inference.

The second mission involves forging global partnerships, bringing together world-leading technology firms and open-source communities with Reliance's expertise to deliver performance leadership and India-first compliance for AI. To support its AI ambitions, Reliance has already teamed up with U.S. tech giants Google and Meta.

Reliance Intelligence's third mission is to deliver trusted and easy-to-use AI services for consumers, small businesses, and enterprises, as well as solutions for critical sectors like education, healthcare, and agriculture. These services will be reliable at scale and affordable for every Indian.

Finally, Reliance Intelligence aims to cultivate AI talent, creating a home for world-class researchers, engineers, designers, and product builders, combining research with engineering to turn ideas into innovations.

To further its AI goals, Reliance has formed strategic partnerships with Google and Meta. Reliance and Meta will invest 8.5 billion rupees ($96 million) in a joint venture to develop Meta's open-source Llama AI platform for businesses in India and other markets. This partnership aims to put Meta's Llama models into real-world use and expand Meta's footprint in the enterprise space. Separately, Reliance will collaborate with Google to deploy Google's AI technologies at its Jamnagar data center hub, applying AI across Reliance's businesses. Google will also establish a Jamnagar Cloud region, delivering AI and compute capabilities powered by Reliance's clean energy and connected through Jio's network.

Reliance is also focusing on human-centric robotics and intelligent automation, investing to make India a leader in robotics and creating new industries, agriculture models, jobs, and opportunities for the youth. The company envisions intelligent automation transforming factories, warehouses, and hospitals.

In addition to Reliance Intelligence, Reliance is integrating AI across its various business sectors. Jio is building an AI-native digital ecosystem, incorporating AI-powered diagnostics and automation at every touchpoint. The company has launched Riya, an AI voice assistant for JioHotstar, and JioPC, a cloud-based desktop service. Jio has also unveiled Jio Frames, AI-powered eyewear designed for India, supporting multiple Indian languages and offering features like HD picture capture, video recording, and live social media streaming. All pictures and videos clicked on Jio Frames are automatically saved on the Jio AI Cloud.

Mukesh Ambani has described AI as a "new engine for growth" for Reliance, with every venture being made AI native. The company aims to equip homes, businesses, and individuals with scalable AI tools, making India the world's first AI-native digital economy. Reliance's focus on AI aligns with India's national strategy for artificial intelligence, which aims to harness AI for societal needs in areas such as healthcare, education, agriculture, smart cities, and infrastructure. India's AI ecosystem is rapidly evolving, with a thriving IT services sector, rising data center infrastructure, and a growing base of homegrown AI models.
