Starting today, September 1, 2025, commercial LPG cylinders will be cheaper by Rs 51.50, bringing relief to businesses and commercial enterprises across India. This price cut is part of the regular monthly adjustments made by oil marketing companies (OMCs) based on global fuel benchmarks and input costs. Domestic LPG cylinder prices, however, will remain unchanged.
Revised Prices in Major Cities
The reduction of Rs 51.50 has brought the retail sale price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi to Rs 1580. Here's a look at the revised prices in other major metropolitan cities:
Impact on Businesses
The снижeние in commercial LPG prices is expected to provide some respite to hotels, restaurants, and small-scale food businesses that rely heavily on these cylinders for their daily operations. Industry insiders believe that even though the cut is modest, it will marginally ease operational costs, especially in urban centers where demand is high. Businesses can expect to save on their fuel expenses, potentially leading to increased profitability.
Recent Price Trends
This price reduction continues a trend of снижeниеs in commercial LPG cylinder prices since June 2025. OMCs had previously reduced prices by Rs 33.50 on August 1 and by Rs 58.50 on July 1. Earlier in June, there was a Rs 24 cut, setting the rate at Rs 1,723.50. There have been continuous price cuts since March with the exception of a slight increase.
Domestic Cylinder Prices Remain Stable
While commercial LPG cylinder prices have been reduced, the prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders used for household cooking remain unchanged. The 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder continues to be priced at Rs 853.00 in Delhi, Rs 879.00 in Kolkata, Rs 852.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 868.50 in Chennai. Domestic LPG prices often stay stable even when commercial rates fluctuate.
LPG Usage in India
Approximately 90% of India's total LPG consumption is for household cooking, with the remaining 10% used in the commercial, industrial, and automotive sectors. Domestic LPG connections have doubled over the last decade, reaching around 33 crore by April 2025, highlighting the deep connection between cooking gas and daily life in India. The Union Cabinet has approved a targeted subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 9 refills per year to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during FY 2025-26, with an expenditure of Rs 12,000 crore. As of July 1, 2025, there are approximately 10.33 crore PMUY connections across the country.
