During the Asia Cup 2025, India captain Suryakumar Yadav shared a light-hearted moment with UAE skipper Muhammad Waseem before the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. As Suryakumar Yadav was about to flip the coin, he playfully told Waseem, "don't look," showcasing his jovial personality. Suryakumar's cheeky remark occurred just as he was preparing to flip the coin.

At the toss, Suryakumar Yadav elected to bowl first. India broke their losing streak of tosses with this win. The team decided to include an extra spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, in the lineup, leaving out Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm pacer. Sanju Samson retained his spot in the playing XI, putting an end to speculation about his inclusion, especially after Shubman Gill's return to the T20I setup after more than a year.

The UAE's playing XI included Muhammad Waseem (c), Alishan Sharafu, Muhammad Zohaib, Rahul Chopra(w), Asif Khan, Harshit Kaushik, Haider Ali, Dhruv Parashar, Muhammad Rohid Khan, Junaid Siddique, and Simranjeet Singh. India's XI featured Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson(w), Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Varun Chakaravarthy.

In other news from the Asia Cup 2025, a video went viral showing Pakistan captain Salman Agha initially walking off without shaking hands with Suryakumar Yadav during a pre-tournament press conference. However, he later corrected himself and shook hands with Suryakumar. According to Ruturaj Borkakoty, a journalist who attended the press conference, the handshake was brief and cordial. The press conference included captains from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Oman, Sri Lanka and UAE.
