Boney Kapoor recently revealed that his first wife, Mona Shourie Kapoor, bought the wedding rings for him and Sridevi. In a new interview with Chanda Kochhar on her YouTube channel, Boney Kapoor opened up about his relationships with both Mona and Sridevi.
Boney Kapoor's marriage to Sridevi in 1996 caused a scandal because he was already married to Mona Shourie Kapoor, with whom he had two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. Boney and Mona married in 1983 and divorced in 1996. Boney then married Sridevi in 1996. Together, Boney and Sridevi had two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Sridevi passed away in 2018 in Dubai due to accidental drowning. Mona died in 2012 after battling cancer and hypertension.
In the interview, Boney shared that he had confessed his feelings for Sridevi to Mona. He pointed to the ring he was wearing and the ring Sridevi wore, stating that Mona bought both. He said he was open with Mona about his relationship with Sridevi and that Mona raised their children without creating any hatred towards him or their half-siblings. Boney acknowledged that Arjun and Anshula must have experienced discomfort during that period.
Boney also shared that Arjun wrote him a letter asking him to come home. He said he felt bad because he was divided between his children and Sridevi, who was alone after her parents had passed away. Boney said he had to make a choice and that he loved all his children. He respected Mona for never putting them against each other. Boney feels blessed that all four of his children are now together. After Sridevi's death in 2018, Arjun and Anshula supported Janhvi and Khushi.
Boney Kapoor has described Sridevi as his strength and lifeline. He fell in love with Sridevi after meeting her for the 1987 film Mr. India. He was captivated by her screen presence after watching her in a Tamil film. Boney ensured Sridevi was comfortable on set and had everything she wanted. He confessed his feelings to Mona and aimed to make Sridevi believe in his feelings.
