Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies, has secured the third position on the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025, with an estimated wealth of ₹2.84 lakh crore ($340 billion), becoming the richest woman in India. This is the first time a woman has broken into the top three of this influential ranking. At 44, Nadar Malhotra is not only the wealthiest woman in India but also the youngest among the top 10 billionaires on the list.

Key Highlights from the Hurun India Rich List 2025:

  • Top Spot: Mukesh Ambani & family reclaimed the number one position with a net worth of Rs 9,55,410 crore, despite a 6% decrease in wealth.
  • Second Position: Gautam Adani & family ranked second with a wealth of Rs 8,14,720 crore, experiencing a 30% decline.
  • Billionaire Boom: The total number of billionaires in India has surpassed 350, six times more than when the list was first released 13 years ago. The combined wealth of these billionaires amounts to Rs 167 lakh crore, nearly half of India's total GDP.
  • Women in Wealth: The 2025 list features 101 women, including 26 dollar-billionaires.
  • Mumbai Leads: Mumbai remains the top city for billionaires in India, with 451 individuals listed. New Delhi follows with 223 billionaires, and Bengaluru with 116.
  • Sector Dominance: The pharmaceutical industry leads with 137 billionaires, followed by industrial products (132) and chemicals & petrochemicals (125).
  • Youngest Billionaire: Aravind Srinivas, 31, founder of Perplexity, is India's youngest billionaire with a fortune of Rs 21,190 crore.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra's Journey:

Nadar Malhotra holds an undergraduate degree in Communications from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. She joined HCL's board in 2009 and became Chairperson of HCL Technologies in 2020. Under her leadership, HCL has expanded its influence in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

In March 2025, Nadar Malhotra received a 47% stake in HCL's holding companies from her father, Shiv Nadar. She is also involved in philanthropic activities through the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which focuses on education and rural development.

According to Anas Rahman Junaid, founder and Chief Researcher, Hurun India, Nadar Malhotra is the only woman among the top 10 richest Indians with her Rs 2.84 lakh crore wealth.

The Hurun Global Rich List, released in March 2025, ranked Nadar Malhotra as the fifth richest woman in the world.
