IndiGo is set to launch daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou, China, starting November 10, 2025. This resumption of flights marks the end of a nearly five-year gap in direct air connectivity between the two nations. The airline will operate the route using its Airbus A320 aircraft.
This move follows confirmation from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) regarding the official resumption of direct flights between India and China. Air travel on this route had been suspended following the COVID-19 pandemic and the Doklam standoff. A spokesperson from the Chinese Embassy has also reinforced their commitment to strengthening development ties, confirming the continuation of resumed flight operations.
IndiGo has stated that it is among the first carriers to restart services between India and China following the recent suspensions. The airline also announced the resumption of daily flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, beginning October 26, 2025. IndiGo operated flights between India and China before the pandemic and has many of the necessary arrangements already in place. The airline believes its past experience and familiarity with local partners will enable it to resume these flights swiftly.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed enthusiasm about the enhanced connectivity to China. He stated that the resumption of operations between two of the world's most populous nations presents immense potential for cultural exchange and economic collaboration. Malhotra added that IndiGo connects China to its vast domestic and growing international network via Guangzhou. The airline is confident that this will contribute towards the acceleration of opportunities in trade, investment, tourism, and even education between the two countries, while reinforcing their commitment to connect India to the world.
The flight from Delhi (6E 1701) will depart at 9:45 pm and arrive in Guangzhou at 4:50 am the following day (local time). The return flight (6E 1702) will leave Guangzhou at 5:50 am and land back in Delhi at 10:10 am (local time). Tickets for the new Delhi-Guangzhou route are available for purchase via the IndiGo website.
In addition to the China route, IndiGo is also planning to launch daily direct flights between Delhi and Hanoi, Vietnam, starting December 20, 2025. This new route will offer connectivity from India's capital to one of Southeast Asia's cultural and commercial hubs. IndiGo currently operates 14 weekly flights connecting Kolkata to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and will deploy its A320 fleet on the new route as well.
The resumption of direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou is expected to boost connectivity between the capitals of two of Asia's fastest-growing economies. This move follows recent diplomatic initiatives between India and China, where leaders agreed that the two countries were development partners and discussed ways to strengthen trade ties.
