Jung Sung-il, Renowned Star, Ends 9-Year Marriage: Divorce Filing Announced After Notable Career.

Actor Jung Sung-il, best known for his role in the hit Netflix series "The Glory," has finalized his divorce after nine years of marriage. His agency, XYZ Studio, released a statement on October 14, 2025, confirming the amicable split.

According to the agency, the decision to divorce was reached after careful consideration and mutual agreement between Jung and his wife. The separation was described as amicable, with no assignment of fault to either party. XYZ Studio has respectfully requested that the public and media refrain from speculation or misrepresentation regarding the divorce.

The agency's statement emphasized that despite the end of their legal relationship, Jung and his former spouse remain supportive of each other's future endeavors. They are also committed to co-parenting their child and will work together to ensure the child's well-being.

Jung Sung-il married his wife, identified only by her surname Ryu, in 2016. Reports indicate that they met through a friend in their early twenties, after Jung completed his military service. His wife majored in pipe organ and studied in the United States. The couple maintained a long-distance relationship for three years, communicating through emails and phone calls between Seoul and the U.S. Jung also shared a story about how his wife exchanged letters with his mother while living abroad and later helped care for his mother during an illness.

The news of the divorce has surprised many, especially since Jung Sung-il publicly shared affectionate stories about his wife on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block" in February 2023. He recounted their initial meeting and how they reconnected after a period of separation. He also mentioned that they married three months after reuniting.

Jung Sung-il gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Ha Do-young, the husband of Park Yeon-jin (played by Lim Ji-yeon), in "The Glory". Born on February 3, 1980, Jung debuted in 2002 with the film "H" and built his career through theater and musicals. Before his breakthrough role, he appeared in dramas such as "Bad and Crazy," "Our Blues," and "Birthcare Center". He also starred in the Disney+ series "Trigger" and the film "Murderer Report". His upcoming projects include the Disney+ series "Made in Korea".

In August 2025, Jung Sung-il spoke about his past financial struggles and the various part-time jobs he held before achieving fame. He revealed that he continued to work these jobs even after appearing in "The Glory," highlighting the financial challenges faced by many actors.

XYZ Studio has requested continued support for Jung Sung-il as he continues his acting career. He is set to appear in upcoming K-dramas, including "Made in Korea" and "Guardians".
