Khajuraho Welcomes The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace, A Testament to Heritage and Luxury

Khajuraho, India – November 19, 2025 – The Oberoi Group has expanded its presence in Madhya Pradesh with the grand opening of The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace in Khajuraho. This marks a significant addition to the state's luxury tourism offerings, blending historical richness with contemporary hospitality.

The inauguration was officiated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who noted that the palace "reflects the rich heritage of Madhya Pradesh while providing world-class hospitality" and is "a remarkable addition to the state's tourism landscape".

Dating back over 350 years, The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace is a meticulously restored royal residence that once belonged to Raja Hindupat Singh Bundela of the Bundela Dynasty. Perched atop the scenic Maniyagarh Hills, the palace offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including a rain-fed lake and lush hillside. The location is also conveniently located near the UNESCO-listed Khajuraho temples and Panna National Park, adding cultural and natural attractions for travelers. The palace is located 18 kilometers (25-minute drive) from Khajuraho International Airport and is easily accessible via national highways.

The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace features 66 luxurious accommodations, blending Bundelkhand heritage with British colonial design. These include palace rooms with waterbody views, palace rooms with private terraces offering views of Panna National Park, and royal villas with private pools.

The property boasts enchanting gardens across its 70-acre expanse. Guests can enjoy an infinity pool that overlooks the original rain-water lake, and those seeking relaxation can take a boat to The Oberoi Spa. The palace offers unique experiences such as traditional Indian dance and storytelling performances. Evenings at the palace feature time-honored rituals and artistic celebrations. Guests can also explore the palace with a local historian to discover its secrets.

Arjun Oberoi, Executive Chairman of The Oberoi Group, expressed his privilege in having the Chief Minister inaugurate the palace, stating, "Beyond preserving history, the palace invites guests to immerse themselves in the beauty, heritage, and cultural richness of Madhya Pradesh". Vikram Oberoi, CEO of The Oberoi Group, emphasized the inauguration reinforces The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace as a landmark in restoration with historical significance.

The Oberoi Group is actively expanding its portfolio, with plans to open 50 new hotels by 2030. This includes 22 hotels and three luxury boats, managed through direct ownership, joint ventures, or management contracts. Sixteen of these hotels will be in India, while nine will be international properties across locations like London, Egypt, Bhutan, Nepal, and Saudi Arabia. In August, the group announced upcoming hotels in Goa, Gir, Hyderabad and near Bengaluru. Earlier this year, the group opened The Oberoi Vindhyavilas Wildlife Resort in Bandhavgarh, which was also featured in TIME magazine's "World's Greatest Places 2025".
