Columbus, OH – The Columbus Blue Jackets rallied in the late third period to secure a 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday at Nationwide Arena. The Blue Jackets, fueled by a sellout crowd, showcased resilience and determination as they overcame a deficit to claim their second straight win.

The game began with Kirill Marchenko giving the Blue Jackets an early lead, scoring on a breakaway at 8:09 of the first period. However, the Islanders responded before the end of the first, with Max Shabanov deflecting a shot off his knee and past Blue Jackets goalie Jet Greaves to tie the game. The period ended with the score leveled at 1-1.

The second period was marked by increased physicality and a pivotal penalty. Islanders' forward Mat Barzal was ejected from the game after receiving a major penalty for a two-handed chop to Mason Marchment's foot. Despite the ensuing power play, Columbus was unable to capitalize. Bo Horvat, back after missing five games due to injury, scored with a wrist shot at 6:36 of the second period to give New York a 2-1 lead.

Trailing by a goal, the Blue Jackets mounted their comeback in the third period. With just over four minutes remaining, Ivan Provorov scored to tie the game at 2-2. Just over a minute later, Marchenko scored his second goal of the night, giving the Blue Jackets a 3-2 lead with 3:19 left in the game. Cole Sillinger sealed the victory with an empty-net goal.

Jet Greaves made 24 saves for the Blue Jackets, while David Rittich stopped 31 shots for the Islanders. Denton Mateychuk and Sean Monahan each contributed two assists for Columbus.
