Indian students in Iran remain safe amid tensions, according to AIMSA and FAIMA reports.

Amidst ongoing protests in Iran, the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) and the Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) have jointly announced that Indian students studying in Iran are safe. The organizations are closely monitoring the situation and are urging families and the public to remain calm.

Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, Vice President of AIMSA and FAIMA Doctors Association, stated that both organizations have been receiving updates directly from Indian students across Iran, confirming their safety and well-being. According to Dr. Khan, numerous students have personally contacted the associations to relay messages to their families, assuring them of their secure status. "All our students are safe. There is no need to panic," Dr. Khan said in a public statement.

The reassurance from AIMSA and FAIMA comes as protests continue in Iran, with some reports indicating a rising death toll and increased detentions. According to the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, the death toll in the crackdown on nationwide protests has risen to at least 538 people, with over 10,600 individuals detained.

AIMSA had previously expressed concerns regarding the safety and well-being of the nearly 3,000 Indian medical students studying in Iran, appealing to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for intervention. In a letter addressed to Jaishankar, AIMSA highlighted the anxiety among students and their families due to the unstable situation. The association urged the Ministry of External Affairs to take precautionary measures, including establishing emergency helplines and preparing evacuation plans if necessary.

AIMSA and FAIMA are maintaining regular communication channels and have pledged to promptly share any further developments to prevent misinformation and allay any unnecessary anxiety among families in India. They have emphasized that there is no immediate threat to Indian students and that the situation remains under close observation. Senior officials and the Indian Embassy are reportedly working together, maintaining constant contact with students and local authorities to ensure their safety.
