An Indian parliamentary delegation, comprised of members from various political parties, is currently in Doha, Qatar, to reinforce the message of zero tolerance against terrorism and to strengthen bilateral ties. The delegation is led by Supriya Sule, a Member of Parliament from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar).

The visit is part of a broader diplomatic outreach, initiated after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, referred to as "Operation Sindoor". The delegation's primary objective is to convey India's firm stance against terrorism, particularly Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism, and to seek Qatar's support in the global fight against it. The delegation will also be visiting South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt as part of this outreach.

Upon arrival in Doha, the delegation received a warm welcome from Vipul, the Indian Ambassador to Qatar. The Indian Embassy in Qatar posted on X, "Taking India's strong message against terrorism to the world! A warm welcome to the multi-party delegation led by @Supriya_sule to Qatar."

The delegation includes prominent political figures from across the Indian political spectrum, including Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, and V. Muraleedharan from the BJP; Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma from the Congress; Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu from the Telugu Desam Party; Vikramjeet Singh Sahney from the Aam Aadmi Party; and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.

The delegation began their engagements by paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Embassy in Doha, honouring his ideals of peace and tolerance. Subsequently, they engaged in discussions with Ambassador Vipul to deliberate on issues related to bilateral cooperation and counter-terrorism efforts.

Ambassador Vipul emphasized the importance of Qatar as a partner for India, highlighting the historical ties and people-to-people connections between the two nations. He also noted the high-level visits in recent years, including Prime Minister Modi's visit and the Emir of Qatar's visit to India, underscoring the strengthening relationship between the two countries.

The delegation met with Qatar's Shura Council to deliver India's message against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and brief the council on the significance of Operation Sindoor. They urged support in the global fight against terrorism.

The visit aims to clarify that the escalation followed the Pahalgam attack, not Operation Sindoor, as alleged by Islamabad. India's engagement with Qatar is strategically important, given Doha's mediatory role in West Asian affairs and its influence in regional diplomacy. The Indian delegation is scheduled to meet with Qatari dignitaries, political leaders, media representatives, and academic institutions to reinforce India's message on counter-terrorism cooperation.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that the delegation aims to apprise the global community of India's position on Pakistan-aided terrorism. The delegation will convey India's unwavering resolve to combat terrorism, demonstrating the national consensus on this critical issue.
