The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) held a press briefing today, June 30, 2025, to discuss Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming five-nation visit. The Prime Minister will be visiting Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia from July 2-9, 2025. This trip aims to strengthen India's relationships with key nations in the Global South and participate in the BRICS Summit in Brazil.

The Prime Minister's first stop will be Ghana on July 2-3. This marks the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ghana and the first prime ministerial visit in three decades. During this visit, Modi will engage in discussions with the President of Ghana to assess their robust bilateral partnership and explore avenues for enhancement through collaboration in the economic, energy, and defense sectors.

Following the visit to Ghana, the Prime Minister will proceed to Trinidad and Tobago for a two-day visit from July 3-4. This visit marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country since 1999. Modi is scheduled to hold talks with the President of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Carla Kangaloo, and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Additionally, he is expected to address a joint session of the parliament of the island nation.

From July 5 to 8, the Prime Minister will be in Brazil. This visit includes attending the 17th BRICS summit and a state visit. The BRICS summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro. During the summit, Prime Minister Modi will exchange views on key global issues, including the reform of global governance, peace and security, strengthening multilateralism, responsible use of artificial intelligence, climate action, global health, and economic and financial matters. He is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. The Prime Minister will also travel to Brasilia for bilateral discussions with President Lula on broadening the strategic partnership between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, including trade, defense, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health, and people-to-people linkages.

In the final leg of his five-nation tour, Modi will travel to Namibia. This will be the third prime ministerial visit from India to Namibia. During his visit, Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and is also expected to deliver an address at the Parliament of Namibia.
