In a powerful display of artistic expression and national pride, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a sand sculpture on Puri beach in Odisha, celebrating "Operation Sindoor" and saluting the Indian armed forces. This comes in response to the Indian military's strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Pattnaik's creation is a 6-foot high sculpture conveying the message "Bharat Mata ki Jai, Justice Served". The artwork illustrates the transformation of Sindoor (vermillion), a symbol of strength in Indian culture, into a force that destroys the enemy. Approximately five tons of sand were used to complete the sculpture, with the help of students from Pattnaik's sand art institution.
"Operation Sindoor" was launched by the Indian armed forces in retaliation to the recent terror attacks in Pahalgam. The operation targeted nine locations of terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes have heightened tensions between the two countries, with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denouncing the action as an "act of war".
Sudarsan Pattnaik, a Padma Shri awardee, has participated in over 65 international sand sculpture championships and festivals, winning numerous awards for India. Through his art, Pattnaik expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the government, stating that the world is watching how India is eliminating terrorism and that the jawans have avenged the killings of innocent people.
The sand art serves as a tribute to the Indian soldiers who participated in "Operation Sindoor". Pattnaik's work not only commemorates the military action but also embodies a sense of national pride and celebrates the strength and resilience of India in the face of terrorism.
