Hyderabad is gearing up to host the 72nd Miss World 2025 pageant, and as part of the festivities, a Heritage Walk is scheduled for May 13, 2025, at the iconic Charminar and Laad Bazaar. To ensure the smooth flow of events and the safety of participants and the general public, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory.

The traffic restrictions will be in effect from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, impacting several key routes in the Old City. These restrictions are necessary to facilitate the Heritage Walk and a Welcome Dinner at Chowmahalla Palace, also scheduled for the same evening.

Road Closures and Diversions

Several roads will be closed to vehicular traffic during the specified hours:

  • Madina to Charminar
  • Charminar to Shalibanda
  • Shalibanda (Rajesh Medical Hall) to Volga Junction
  • Volga Junction to Moosabowli via Khilwat Road

To manage the traffic flow, the police have planned diversions at key junctions:

  • Madina Junction: Vehicles traveling from Nayapool to Charminar will be diverted towards City College.
  • Himmatpura Junction: Traffic from Nagulchintha/Shalibanda towards Charminar will be rerouted via Haribowli and Volga Junction to Fateh Darwaza.
  • Volga Junction: Entry to Chowmahalla Palace will be blocked, and traffic will be redirected towards Hyderabad’s Fateh Darwaza and Himmatpura.
  • Moosabowli: Vehicles from Puranapool will be diverted to City College and Fateh Darwaza via Doodbowli.
  • Chowk Maidan Kaman: Vehicles will be redirected towards Kotla Aliza or Moghalpura.
  • Etebar Chowk: Traffic from this area will be diverted towards Mandi Miralam Market or Bibi Bazar.
  • Sher-e-Baitul Kaman: No entry towards Gulzar House; diversion via Ghansi Bazaar.
  • Lakkad Kote (Old CP Office Junction): Diversions towards Mir Alam Mandi Market will be made as needed.

Public Transportation

TSRTC buses heading towards Charminar will be terminated at Afzalgunj. City buses coming from Falaknuma towards Charminar will be diverted at Shamsheergunj towards Tadban. Buses going to districts via Nayapul and Madina from MGBS, Imlibun, will proceed via alternate routes.

Congestion Zones and Alternative Routes

The police have warned of likely traffic congestion at major junctions including Puranapool Darwaza, Good Will Café, M.J. Bridge, Delhi Gate, Nayapool, Madina X Road, Kali Kaman, Moghalpura Kaman, Himmatpura, Volga Junction, and Laldarwaza X Road. Citizens are advised to avoid the Charminar route, plan their travel accordingly and use alternative routes. Live traffic updates will be available on the Hyderabad Traffic Police’s social media handles.

Heritage Walk Details

The Heritage Walk will feature over 140 delegates, who will be accompanied by tour guides explaining the history of Charminar, Laad Bazaar, Jullu Khana, and Chowmahalla Palace. The delegates are expected to climb the Charminar monument and visit the bangles shops at Laad Bazaar, Zardosi workshops at Jullu Khana and the Dawasaz shops (herbal stores) in Moti Galli before heading to the Chowmahalla Palace. The rhythmic beats of ‘Hadrami marfa’ and ‘Naubat’ will greet the Miss World 2025 contestants when they arrive at Charminar for the Heritage Walk.

The event is expected to showcase Hyderabad's rich culture and heritage to a global audience, with the Heritage Walk being broadcast live in over 150 countries. The contestants will later dine in the environs of Chowmahalla Palace, where they will be served Hyderabadi cuisine, including Biryani, Mirchi ka Salan, and Qubani ka Mitha. A musical concert is also being organised at the Chowmahalla Palace for the guests.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police urges the public to cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smooth movement and safety during the international event.
