One film starring Himesh Reshammiya that never made it to theaters is "A New Love Ishtory." Directed by John Matthew Matthan, known for directing the critically acclaimed film "Sarfarosh," "A New Love Ishtory" was initially announced in 2007 and slated for a 2008 release. The film starred Himesh Reshammiya, Niharika Singh, Satish Shah, and Rakesh Bapat. Rajkummar Rao also had a role as a news reporter in the film.
The film's plot revolved around an unemployed stunt performer who resorts to selling his sperm to make a living. Years later, he encounters a young girl who turns out to be his daughter, and the story explores their bonding amidst various challenges.
Several factors contributed to the film's eventual shelving. Production delays and budget cuts were rumored early on. However, the most significant blow came with the release and success of Ayushmann Khurrana's "Vicky Donor" in 2012. "Vicky Donor" had a similar premise, dealing with sperm donation, and its success seemingly made "A New Love Ishtory" redundant in the eyes of its producers.
According to reports, "A New Love Ishtory" was approximately 95% complete when it was shelved. Director John Matthew Matthan reportedly spent three years working on the project and was understandably disappointed by its fate. The film was caught in limbo due to a reported fallout between Bhushan Kumar and Himesh Reshammiya. Kumar had a three-film deal with Reshammiya, including "Karzzzz," "Kajraare," and "A New Love Ishtory." After "Kajraare" didn't perform well, Kumar appeared hesitant to proceed with the third film.
In 2011, Bhushan Kumar stated that "A New Love Ishtory" would only be released after Himesh Reshammiya's other film, "Ishq Unplugged," was released. However, neither film saw the light of day. Despite the shelving, "A New Love Ishtory" was released on television.
While "A New Love Ishtory" remains an unreleased film, Himesh Reshammiya has continued to be active in the entertainment industry. He has several upcoming projects as an actor and composer, including "Jaanam Terii Kasam," slated for release in October 2025, and "Badass Ravi Kumar," released on February 7, 2025. He is also composing music for "Apne 2" and "Kabhi Bhi Kahin Bhi," both expected to be released in 2025.
