In a thrilling encounter at Edgbaston on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Indian fielder Radha Yadav pulled off a sensational catch that has become the talk of the cricket world. The catch, taken in the final over of the fifth T20I between India and England, was a moment of brilliance in an otherwise tense and closely fought match.

With England chasing 168 for victory, the game went down to the wire. In the last over, bowled by Arundhati Reddy, England needed just five runs from four balls. Amy Jones, the wicketkeeper-batter, attempted a slog sweep, but didn't get the desired timing. The ball appeared to be falling safely in front of the fielder at deep midwicket. However, Radha Yadav, known for her exceptional fielding skills, had other plans.

Radha Yadav sprinted in a few yards and launched herself into a full-length dive, snatching the ball just inches above the ground. The catch was so stunning that the third umpire had to review multiple replays to ensure that the ball hadn't touched the ground during the dive. After careful examination, it was confirmed that Radha had indeed held on to the ball cleanly.

The dismissal of Amy Jones, who scored 10 runs off 12 balls, put immense pressure on England, with the equation now down to five runs needed from three balls. Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull, commentating on the game, exclaimed, "Wow, Radha Yadav I think that is. She has been the best on show for India throughout this series. What a time to pull off a special catch that is".

Despite Radha Yadav's brilliance, England managed to hold their nerve and secure a last-ball victory, winning the match by five wickets. Sophie Ecclestone and Paige Scholfield guided England home, chasing down 168 runs in a tense finish at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

While India lost the game, they had already secured the series 3-2, marking their first-ever T20I series win against England. Shafali Verma's explosive 75 off 41 balls had propelled India to 167/7. She hit 13 fours and a six, reaching her fifty in just 23 balls.

Radha Yadav's catch has drawn comparisons to Harleen Deol's viral catch from 2021. It has been widely shared on social media, with fans and experts praising her athleticism and commitment. With this catch, Radha is now in fifth position in terms of fielders with the most catches in T20Is for India, with 33 catches in 88 innings. Veda Krishnamurthy (38), Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana (39) and Harmanpreet Kaur (68) are ahead of her.
