Chelsea's Captain Declares: Expect the Unexpected – We Aim to Shock Against Formidable Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea captain Reece James has declared his team is ready to "surprise a lot of people" in their FIFA Club World Cup final clash against Paris Saint-Germain. The Blues face the daunting task of taking on a PSG side that is currently dominating European football, having already secured the Champions League title and three domestic trophies. PSG's dominant form in the Club World Cup, including a 4-0 semi-final victory over Real Madrid, has made them the clear favorites.

Despite the widespread acknowledgement of PSG's strength, James exuded confidence and unwavering belief in his team's capabilities. "To be honest, I don't care that everyone is bigging up our opposition," James told reporters. "We're preparing right and we're going there to win". He further emphasized his experience in high-stakes matches, stating, "I've been in many finals before where we were favorites and we didn't come out on top".

James acknowledged PSG's prowess, calling them "amazing" and anticipating a tough game. However, he also highlighted the quality within the Chelsea squad, confidently asserting, "but we also have an amazing team and we're going to surprise a lot of people". He also expressed faith in the Chelsea's analytical team to find weaknesses in PSG's armor. "I'm sure the analyst team we have will be looking at the games where PSG haven't done so well, and we'll try and adapt to that," James stated.

Echoing James' sentiment, fellow Chelsea defender Levi Colwill issued a warning to PSG, suggesting that Chelsea would not surrender as easily as Real Madrid did in the semi-final. Colwill stated, "They are an amazing team – but we are not Inter or Real Madrid... [PSG] can't expect us to give them the same game. We're going to bring different things. We're different players".

Chelsea's recent form has been promising, with a 2-0 semi-final victory over Fluminense. New signing Joao Pedro, who scored twice in that match, has quickly established himself as a key attacking threat. The return of midfielder Moises Caicedo from injury and the availability of Levi Colwill and Liam Delap after suspension further bolster Chelsea's squad.

The Club World Cup final presents a significant challenge for Chelsea, but the team appears united and confident in their ability to cause an upset. The match will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
